Bitwriters Hosts First Bitcoin Pizza Day Celebration in Jos, Nigeria
On May 22, 2025, Bitwriters proudly joined the global Bitcoin community in celebrating Bitcoin Pizza Day—a day that commemorates the very first real-world transaction made with Bitcoin. From Florida in 2010 to Jos, Nigeria in 2025, this event marked an exciting step in our mission to make Bitcoin education and adoption part of everyday African life.
Our gathering in Jos brought together 15 eager participants—students, creators, and young professionals—who were introduced to Bitcoin not just as a technology, but as a tool for financial empowerment and inclusion.
A Celebration of Innovation and Community
The event was hosted in a warm, casual setting filled with food, music, and lively discussions. Guests enjoyed pizza, suya, drinks, and giveaways, but the true highlight was the hands-on introduction to Bitcoin.
Every participant was successfully onboarded to the Wallet of Satoshi and Mavapay, some participants received sats for demonstration, and all left with a new sense of confidence in using Bitcoin for real transactions. Through simple, beginner-friendly conversations, we broke down what Bitcoin means for Africans—faster payments, protection from inflation, and the chance to build wealth by monetizing knowledge and skills.
Community partners such as Bitcoin Calabar Club and Monierate supported the event, underscoring the strength of grassroots collaboration in driving Bitcoin adoption across Nigeria.
At Bitwriters, we believe Bitcoin is more than just money—it is a tool for financial freedom, inclusion, and education. Hosting events like Bitcoin Pizza Day is part of our effort to bring this message closer to the people who need it most: Africa’s youth, women, and people living with disabilities.
By creating a safe and fun learning environment, we make it easier for people to see Bitcoin as a practical solution for everyday challenges—from cross-border payments to wealth preservation.
