The Lagos Bitcoin community came together on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Café One for an engaging and practical Bitcoin Wallet Workshop hosted by Bitcoin Dada, an organization founded by Kenyan advocate Lorraine Marcel to empower African women through financial education.
The event opened with a warm welcome from Bevely Precious, who encouraged participants to introduce themselves and share fun facts about their interests, setting a lively and inclusive tone for the day. She then introduced the main speaker, Lilian Nwamaife, who guided attendees through the fundamentals of Bitcoin wallets, what they are, why they are important, and how to secure them. Her session included a live demonstration of setting up a Trezor hardware wallet for cold storage, highlighting best practices in safety and key management.
A highlight of the workshop was the live transaction demonstration. Using wallets such as Muun, Wallet of Satoshi, Bitnob, and Blink, participants received satoshis directly, giving them first-hand experience of how Bitcoin transfers work in real time. This interactive exercise transformed abstract ideas into practical understanding, leaving participants both informed and entertained.
Beyond the technical sessions, the atmosphere remained community-driven and vibrant. Attendees enjoyed light snacks and refreshments while networking with fellow Bitcoin enthusiasts, turning the workshop into both an educational and social experience.
Bitcoin Dada’s mission of empowering African women through Bitcoin education was clear throughout the event. By making financial tools accessible and practical, the initiative continues to bridge knowledge gaps and create opportunities for women to actively participate in the digital economy. As the workshop concluded, participants left with not only greater confidence in managing wallets but also a stronger sense of community in their Bitcoin journey.
